Do IoT Fieldlab is a fieldlab within TU Delft. We provide a practical environment where companies, researchers, students, and public organisations can test, validate and demonstrate innovative digital and wireless technologies in realistic conditions. Public 5G networks are primarily designed for consumer applications such as mobile internet, video streaming, and everyday connectivity. Industrial and mission-critical applications, including autonomous robots, drones, connected machinery and large-scale sensor networks often require guaranteed performance, low latency, high reliability, and greater control over network resources.

This is why, at Do IoT Fieldlab, organisations can experiment with private 5G and advanced wireless technologies in a controlled environment. This allows innovators to test solutions under realistic conditions, explore features that are not available on public networks, and prepare their products and services for future deployment.

We do not always have specific vacancies available. However, students and researchers are welcome to submit an open application expressing their interests and expertise. We regularly collaborate with students on research, innovation and industry-driven projects, and suitable opportunities may arise throughout the year.

We do not develop sensors in-house as a standard activity. However, within specific research and innovation projects, we collaborate with TU Delft researchers, students and external partners who may contribute to sensor design, development and validation activities when required.

Our team provides guidance and technical expertise before, during and after testing activities. This includes support related to network configuration, wireless technologies, experimentation methodologies, and system integration. However, Do IoT Fieldlab is not an engineering consultancy or contract development organisation. While we help facilitate experiments, we do not design, build or manufacture products, prototypes, or test hardware on behalf of partners.

Ownership of intellectual property, data and results depends on the nature of the project and the agreements established before the collaboration begins. In general, organisations retain ownership of their own technologies, data, and background IP. For collaborative research projects involving multiple partners, specific arrangements regarding IP rights, data access and publication may be agreed upon in advance. These terms are always discussed transparently at the start of a collaboration.

Yes, we can! Through our network and experience with innovation projects, we can help identify relevant funding opportunities, including European, national and regional programmes. Depending on the project, we may also be able to connect organisations with suitable partners, consortia, or funding experts. While we do not act as a dedicated funding consultancy, we are happy to discuss potential routes for supporting innovative ideas and collaborative projects.
