5G
This project, part of the WoW project, explores how VR training and remote operation can help prepare people for future energy-related tasks. Reliable and fast network connections are essential to ensure that actions in a virtual environment accurately reflect real-world operations. By integrating different 5G network configurations into the VR environment, the project investigates how connectivity performance affects task execution and safety. The platform provides a realistic environment for researchers and companies to test and improve teleoperation solutions, accelerating the development of future connected and autonomous operations.
Societal Value
The energy sector is becoming increasingly complex, creating a growing need for professionals with the skills to safely operate and maintain new technologies. However, training in realistic environments can be costly, time-consuming and limited by safety requirements. This project uses VR and haptic feedback to provide students and professionals with a safe and realistic way to practice technical procedures and prepare for real-world operations.
The VR training module will be tested with MBO students and developed together with education and industry partners. A train-the-trainer package will enable teachers and organisations to use and scale the training within their own programmes.
