New project: Energy-efficient systems for 6G
The arrival of 6G will bring an even greater number of connected devices. But there’s a challenge we can’t ignore: how do we scale the IoT without sending energy consumption through the roof?
Two TU Delft scientists, Arash Asadi and Przemysław Pawełczak, are working on an answer together with a large international consortium through the IoT-ZERO project. Their ambition? Energy-neutral IoT systems for future 6G networks.
Project IoT-ZERO is developing ultra-low-power, battery-free IoT systems that can harvest energy from their surroundings. This could allow devices to run autonomously for long periods, while reducing the need for batteries and maintenance. From 6G and IoT to cybersecurity, software and telecommunications, partners across Europe are bringing their expertise together to tackle one shared question: can we make the IoT not only more connected, but also more sustainable and scalable?
IoT-ZERO is taking a step towards a future where connected devices consume less, last longer and are designed with sustainability in mind.
