Wireless factory project: where are we now?

Phases of the project

The manufacturing industry faces major challenges due to labor shortages, international competition and a growing demand for accuracy in robotised production. In response to this, the “Wireless factory of the future” project was launched.

The project started in January this year, and consists of three phases:

1. Setting up a private, standalone Beyond 5G infrastructure with the expertise of Do IoT Fieldlab for wireless data processing by robots (check)

2. Purchasing a state-of-the-art, Beyond 5G compatible, industrial robot for experiments with smart subtractive processes (e.g. milling, sanding and drilling).

3. Demonstrating the innovative solutions to disseminate the latest insights, both for industry and education institutes.
