June and July mark a busy period on the Dutch coastal waters: commercial and recreational shipping, fishing, ferries, and offshore activities… At the same time, connectivity on the open sea is often poor or non-existent.
This is not only inconvenient, but a serious issue for safety and operational efficiency as well. From emergency response to smart shipping and offshore monitoring: connectivity is key.
For a new project, Drocean will use drones to create a detailed 4G and 5G coverage map for the maritime industry to foster developments within the Dutch maritime sector. Within our fieldlab, they collaborate with Do IoT Fieldlab, MCS Benelux, Unmanned Valley and TNO. Read more about the project here.
