New project: Immersive training for safer remote operations
What if future energy professionals could experience the tasks they are learning before carrying them out in the real world?

What if future energy professionals could experience the tasks they are learning before carrying them out in the real world?

By combining VR, a haptic glove technology and 5G, this project (part of the bigger WoW project) creates a realistic and safe training environment for offshore maintenance and operations.
The haptic glove provides tactile feedback, allowing Secondary vocational education students and technicians to practise technical procedures, build essential skills and prepare for real-world work. All without the risks and limitations of physical training environments.
Together with TU Delft, SenseGlove, and Highlight Delft, we will also explore how different 5G network configurations affect task execution, remote operation and safety. These insights can help advance safer, more connected and increasingly autonomous operations in the future.
This project is enabled by the Kansen voor West programme (aimed at promoting the competitiveness of the Dutch Western region) and the European Union.
